About Me
Elsie Garcia-Urbay is a dedicated advocate, life coach, and nonprofit leader whose work is rooted in more than two decades of lived experience raising her adult son, who has Apert syndrome and an intellectual delay. That journey through diagnoses, surgeries, individualized education plans, and the transition into adulthood shapes both her professional expertise and her deep personal commitment to families like her own.
Elsie owns and founded Rise & Shine Life Coaching, where she provides life and health coaching to parents and caregivers of children and adults with special needs, helping them navigate the emotional and practical challenges of the disability journey. She also founded Dragonfly Fit and Fun Social Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit offering adaptive fitness programming for children and adults with special needs and disabilities, and serves as a board member for Prestige Club Broward. As a family advocate for children with cleft lip/palate and craniofacial syndromes, she works to advance awareness, acceptance, and support within the craniofacial community.
Her credentials include a Master Health Coach certification from the Primal Health Coach Institute, the IBCCES Autism Certificate (AC), a Patient Advocacy Certificate from the University of Miami, Board Certification in Advocacy for Special Education (BCASE) through the National Association of Special Education Teachers, and certification as a Special Strong Adaptive Personal Trainer. She is also a Certified Medical Interpreter (English/Spanish) and is currently pursuing the TERI Certified Special Needs Quality of Life Coach certification.
